Blythe Hill Community Garden

A project still in development, but soon to come to fruition, for the past year we’ve been working closely with the Friends of Blythe Hill Fields to develop a plan for a community wildlife garden. We’ve been pleased to work together with the local community to consider a space to suit the multiple needs of different park-users. Our plan connects to the wider landscape with a nod to the heritage of the site - once an ancient woodland, and also the site of a former brickworks. Utilising the existing circulation routes of the park, with the addition of several new meandering pathways our design aims to encourage park-goers to stop and engage with the space. The inclusion of low gabion walls, and a series of bee posts will create wildlife habitats, with a planting scheme to withstand drought, rain and high winds. Rain water collection and redistribution has also been considered.
